With this Cultural Walking Tour, we invite you to discover the history of Barcelona and its mobility. We will analyse two different, complementary urban-planning models from 19th-century Barcelona: Vila de Gràcia and the Cerdà Plan.

Vila de Gràcia was developed as a chaotic juxtaposition of plans, with the aim of absorbing a large part of Barcelona’s population once the medieval walls fell. At the same time in 1860, work began on Ildefons Cerdà’s Eixample. His design was aimed at being a cutting-edge, hygienic, efficient and rational city.

The tour will take you through the neighbourhood of Gràcia, where we will discover its fascinating history, from the 18th-century farmhouses to present day. We’ll finish our tour where these two urban-planning paradigms converge: at the corner of Paseo de Gracia and Avenida Diagonal, where CASA SEAT now stands, and we’ll invite you in for a refreshment.

The walking tour lasts approximately 2 hours and there is limited capacity so you must sign up beforehand. The tour will start from the Fontana metro stop (Carrer d’Astúries, 4) and will finish at CASA SEAT.

Language: Spanish and/or Catalan.
